What's the difference between the Chrome-Beta and Chromium?

I think Chromium is the open-source version of Chrome, and Chrome beta (2.0.xxx) is the closed-source beta run by Google, no?

Google Chrome is just the Google-branded version of Chromium. Chromium itself is released separately as an open-source project, and other parties have repackaged Chromium into their own brand of browser such as SRWare Iron and CrossOver Chromium.

Think of Chromium as a generic drug, repackaged by different pharmaceutical companies into their own brands with their own inactive ingredients.
