Gnome 3 window resize effects?

  1. I've found that Gnome Shell is quite usable with the help of some extensions (namely Taskbar and Axe Menu). However, there is a problem - Mutter doesn't do scale or outline window resizes, and window shadows cannot be turned off. The combination of "smooth" resizing and shadows delivers awful performance.

Are there any Gnome Shell extensions that implement Compiz style resize effects? Failing that, are there any that just let me turn off these annoying drop shadows?

Just install Pantheon desktop with Gala window manager. GNOME Shell just needs a lot of extensions to be usable. Personally, I love the Slingshot Dash/Launcher in it and the customizable Plank dock. Much better than GNOME 3 and its light and loads fast. Half of what slows computers down these days is a lot of eye candy no one really needs. ;)
