After using Symantec's Ghost since 1995, I have a strong desire to upgrade "all" my systems to True Image. However, I have a large storage of Ghost images, all .sv2i. Does or will True Image read these image files for (at least) file recovery? Thank you.

Ghost/TI file compatibility has been asked about before and the answer given was NO.

If you want to switch to TI, you'll have to retain some Ghost capability until the images are of no further value. I have images going back to Ghost before Symantec bought them out, PowerQuest Drive Image, and a lot of TI images. So far I never have had to go back into them to recover anything past "current" images. Just lucky maybe.

Thank you for your prompt and honest reply ). I understand that suport of a competitive product is not in your companies best interest, but I had to ask. I know what I need to do now, and on the positive side, I'll be recovering a lot of storage space. Thank you kindly.

    rcranford21,

I assume you mean .v2i (.sv2i are the index files) files. I suggest keeping the .v2i that you feel is the most representative. You can read the file from the Ghost 10 CD recovery environment and extract files if needed. Ghost 10 doesn't need to be installed for the CD to work.
