Every time I connect to the internet after about 5 minutes I get a message “generic host process for win 32 services encountered a problem” and I get disconnected and have to reboot how do try to find where this is coming from ?

Are you using a firewall? If so, does it block or allow Generic Host?

When I set my firewall to block Generic Host, I had the same sort of problem as you are having. Thus, I have set it to allow, as per the screenshot below.

    Hi jgreen,

If you've ever had an HP printer or scanner hooked up check here - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;821690. I usually equate these type event's to some form of web junk. Best bet .... go somewhere like Gladiator Security or Castle Cop's, follow posting guide-line's, then forward an HJT log. There they'll probably also ask for the information inside the message box.
