When I ping localhost I get the following response:
Pinging BNDEV00.bne.intellimax.local [::1] with 32 bytes of data:
    General failure.
    General failure.

Disabling the ESET firewall returns things to normal.
    Any idea what causes this?

    TIA
    Dave

If you disable ICMP attack detection, does you still get the same error?

    1. Open the ESET software and press F5 to open the advanced setup.
    2. Locate Personal Firewall->IDS and advanced options.
    3. Uncheck ICMP protocol attack detection.
