Im in Canada and for some reason even though im paying 7mbps download, my internet dies when a download reaches 1 mbps. Is my router crap or am i being robbed with a crappy modem?

Could be either, did you try troubleshooting, maybe connect direct to modem?

Also call your ISP Support and ask them to do a line to modem test!

    Guys, Guys, Guyyyyyyyyyysssssssss

    It's "All Pure GREED!"

The speed is already there. They just want to make the most profit they can and dish out the speed increases alittle at a time :thumbd:

Here is B.C., they have cable internet called "high speed lite" for $25 bucks/month. God, it's so slow i couldn't even watch youtube video

The prices here for the speeds you get is just f-ing ridiculous

I have High Speed which gives you:

Up to 7.5 Mbps download speed
Up to 512 Kbps upload speed
    75 GB/month data transfer

    Cost:

$35.00/month regular price when bundled with any other Shaw service
    $45.00/month standalone

During peaks times i don't get close to these speeds!

In Japan, they have 1000 mbps for less money than what i pay for 7.5 mbps

    Forgot to mention......

A movie downloading company ( think it was Netflix) just announced that they were going to expand into Canada. 2 days later, "Rogers" announced they were "lowering", not raising but "lowering" the monthly data limits by "10 gigs"

    Unbelievable!

I have an interesting problem with my ISP. The speed goes down as days go by, but soon as I reboot the router (ISP provided at the moment) I get what I am paying for speeds.

No idea why it happens but it does.

That's not unbelievable, that's business, lol. They knew what was coming. It isn't fair, but ISP providers in general are shady, even my own, though I don't have data limits..yet.
