No one wins...no one loses. What works well for some, doesn't for others. G Data runs lightly for me, as well as several other users here. It's bog city for you, and others too. I found Kaspersky (both the av and the suite) to run pretty lightly on my pc, though a lot of folks found it heavy..oh well.
Let's keep this thread on topic before it gets nailed shut.

I was just kidding when I said "I win". :cautious: And we were on topic, since we were talking about the feel of GData. Anyways...

Why so many processes? Reminds me of AVG.

You can't compare a single engine product with a dual engine product. Obviously the dual engine one is going to be a little heavy.

Sorry, my bad, it's been a rough day, and my brain was too fried to realize...o_O
There are quite a few processes, I'll give you that...8 running total on my pc. A couple for the firewall, the bb, proxy, updater & tray service. It is a suite though, we have to allow for some extra stuff.

o_O Really? It's basic computer stuff!! A product can be heavy or light depending what type of processor and how much RAM are you running. For example.. Kaspersky for some people is heavy but for me it runs very light. It really depends?

Depends on the level of irony the forum allows or the reader comprehends.

    Engine A: BitDefender
    Engine B: avast!

G Data performs very well on my systems.
In most cases hdd / controller will be the bottleneck.

For comparissons also keep in mind av's different monitor settings: some don't scan dlls or archives e.g.

    cheers,
    Ford

Go to read a littel beat for your favorite AV...Engine A(BitDefender) is a Major engine of GData...Engine B (Avast) is a complice engine.

The most pop ups from Gdata is from engine A (BitDefender)

kinda off topic but maybe you can help - my trial of gdata ends I bought license, so I go to "extend license" and then I'm transferred to blank upgrade page where I can do nothing. How I'm supposed to feed in license to it ?

Go to the settings and enter the update area. Click 'log on to server'. You should now be able to enter your new key.

    Regards,
