This May sound a Little weird but what is the point of deleting all those Spyware, Trojans, Adware etc.

I mean I have done scans with allmost all the free scans available and I have even bought some and they find like 20 different processes each maybe a trojan here and a backdoor there and dialer and etc you get what i mean. If still have them But they are causing me no problems whatsoever my system speed is fine and it hasnt changed much since when I first bought It so why do people get anxious when they discover these if I dont give credit card and personel info online ( the only thing i give is email ) and I dont really mind if they hack into it ( although they havnt ) then I can make a new one as I dont have anything important relying on my email anyway.

So If You Dont Notice A Difference Then Why Care May I Ask ?

Thanks for Reading and I Hope You get My Point
    ? :D

Wait til you get your phone bill. Then you will know why. This is from someone who felt the same as you did, and was very naieve and oblivious to this stuff, then got stung for a £380 phone bill. That BT Wouldnt reimburse and thus had to pay. Which meant my entire teams student loan was half gone to some stupid crook in some fair eastern country. Which meant i had to scrimp and scrape to survive that term. This made me very mad and made me want to know all about stopping any reoccurance.

But hey if you enjoy giving these crooks a free ride that is defintely your perogitive.

    Thanks
    Anthony

    Yh Ok,

I cant get a massive phone bill cos im on broadband and it cant make calls from my computer. Have u tried going to ICTIS to sort out that dialler problem. U should definately get it back. Were u aware that u had a dialler before the phone bill ?

The police wont do that because I have stopped all outgoing activity on my computer and the trojans are not currently active anyway. Anyway if they are usin a proxy trojan then its not me its the trojan creator is it not they have this kind of technology !

Well I would remove it except i cant all those programs and they keep on coming back ! ! !

You may not notice a difference, but a dialup user getting zombie spam from your machine might.

You may not notice a difference, but if your computer is used to host a fake online banking site, then someone who can't afford to lose what's in their bank account may lose it thanks to a page hosted on your server.

If your machine is used as a DDOS zombie to pound someone elses computer, server (and maybe their business) into the ground then YOU may not notice a difference, but they sure would.

I suggest you read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tragedy_of_the_commons

A bit dry, but - if everyone works co-operatively, for the common good then the Internet will be a better place for all. When people don't care, or take more than their fair share, everyone loses in the end.

If those trojans just keep coming back it should be obvious to you that your computer is insecure. From that statement you made it appears that you are more DEFEATED an looking for a reason to give up.
Cleverboy, thats your computer! Are you willing to just lay down an allow some Hacker to take it away from you?? What else are you willing to give up ? If its so easy for someone to just take something away from you.
It would take several days to explain what a real hacker could use your computer for or even a script kiddie....we live in a world society....an if you willingly and knowingly allow a hacker to use your computer to harm some innocent person in the world YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE ! ITS YOU WHO IS ALLOWING SOMEONE TO BE HARMED! AN THAT MAKES YOU AN ACCESSORY

Well from this its clear security is not a major concern for you. Which if you think youll be ok with that then that is up to you. But as a friendly suggestion i would still suggest a few steps to ensure some security that hopefully may be enough.

    1. First and foremost use Firefox or Opera Browsers only.
    2. Install SpywareBlaster (its free and do a update once a fortnight to once a month it only takes a few Seconds).
    3. Install Microsoft Antispyware and have this running on actice.
    4. Install a Firewall Antivirus Combo that Autoupdates. Such as F-Secure, Zonealarm or Mcafee.
    5. Install CCleaner and do a scan once a fortnight (it only takes 5 seconds).

This should hold you ok and it is a relitively effortless security setup.

Totally agree with, its not just DOS attacks and fake bank sites that are hosted on compromised machines. Theres other more nasty stuff such as very disturbing ilegal porn and do you really want to see a hacker watching your every more online

    CLEVER

WELL GOOD FOR YOU...nice to see you taking control....atta boy.!

Ok, looks like you need a hand.....GET:

EWIDO free version = its a trojan scanner

Anti-virus free = all about the same.....AVG will do for now

Sygate may be alittle much for you at this time..if so..consider zone alarm free..its easier for a newer person to use...just have to say yes or no when something ask to use the internet.

CAUTION: those trojans and crap REMAIN IN YOUR SYSTEM RESTORE SO THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED. someone here can advised you how.

get Ewido and an Anti-virus install then post back....SOON!! If you have ANY trojan thats bad news..

I suggest that you download and run “Hijack This” found here and post your log at one of the HijackThis Specialist Forums, the two bigger forums for HijackThis log processing, (meaning they process more log threads each day than most others) are: SpywareInfo.com and CastleCops.com. Be sure to read their posting policy in the links at their log review forum sections prior to posting.

Once your system is clean I would suggest that you take a look here: Why did I get infected in the first place? Also, for further information on security and how to make your system that much stronger, see here, as well there are discussions here and even more here.

    Hope this helps...

Let us know how you go.

    Cheers :D

If you think you have a Keylogger and your Hijack This Logs are coming up clean according to a specialist, then it is time to format and start again.

When clean, I would suggest following the other links that I provided, or the link in my signature and make your system secure.

    Cheers :D

the problem is that i cant format because i have lost the win xp disk anyway sorry to ask but would a firewall take care of the keylogger making sure that it dosnt make its way back to the server ?

  23. cleverboy12,

Backup copies of your OS is an essential part of computing.
You never know when you may need to do a fresh install.

Heck i've got copies + originals of every operating system that i've ran...
over the past 20 years... from GEOS 1.0 to OS X 10.4.

I feel no pitty for lack of discipline.
Next time keep your Windows XP cd in a secure location.....
i hope this is a lession learned. :(

    Good Luck....

You can receive a replacement copy from Microsoft for a small fee, just call their support number.

    Cheers :D

That depends on the keylogger, and depends on the firewall.
