I am using ftp to upload files to a website and in the past have used filezilla. I don't need a lot of features and found filezilla easy to use.
Recently my web host advised strongly against filezilla
Instead they suggest Smart Ftp, Cute FTP or FireFTP Addon for FF.

I tried Smart FTP and while it works, it seems I have to buy a program with tons of features which I don't really need. Can anyone here comment on Filezilla and if there are really good reasons not to use this program.

SmartFTP is worth every dime but if free is a must FireFTP is not bad. I prefer both of them to Filezilla. I have had connectivity issues with Filezilla in the past.

WinSCP here. I switched over to this because I can call scripts from within it too.
