64bit computer, you'll get the 64bit package also containing the 32bit. They don't do one or the other on the 64bit system.

For those that wish to try IE 10 under Windows 7, the below KB via WU is required.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838

Update for Vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer 10
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/advisory/2755801

Deselect the BING and MSN defaults unless you explicitly want them.

Under > Help > About - ensure your final installation is listed as RTM.

I saw that earlier today. Maybe I'll try that if I don't see it in WU tomorrow...

I know they won't force it into the critical updates section for a while, but it might show up in the optional updates soon. We'll see...... You could be right...

Installed and turned on Enhanced Protected Mode. It seems that there's only a x64 version on Windows 7 64-bit according to Start Menu and Task Manager.

Yup. You can no longer install a 32 bit version of Internet Explorer 10 on a 64X system. The only way to get 32 bit compatibility is to turn off the Enhanced Protected Mode.

    x64 W7 and IE10 mystery!

I've downloaded, installed, un-installed IE10 at least five times since yesterday. I never tried the pre-releases. I've downloaded the x64v from MS's site, downloaded and installed from the IE9 browser, un-installed IE9, deleted all the program files from both PF and PF (86). I've tried launching it from shortcuts, all programs inside the program files folder and command prompt but nothing happens! I've run MS Fix It too. I thought perhaps it had something to do with java being disabled in the cpl gui but I enabled it. And why, when choosing x64, does it appear to also install x32? Any theories? Fortunately I'm primarily a Cyberfox user! Thank you!

The use of Enhanced Protected Mode feature on 64bit will have the 64bit version of IE called. But my observations of IE10 Preview, different programs will load up the 32bit version. I made changes in the registry and another change elsewhere to have 64bit forced always.

Try disabling your security software while installing. Also did you update your comp via WU with Platform update?

    Re: x64 W7 and IE10 mystery!

I'm likely misunderstanding you.. But if you installed IE10, then you found still an IE9 uninstall option and ran through its uninstallation. This would explain why your IE10 install is messed up, IE10 will update everything and not make duplicates with updated files in different locations.

Regarding 32bit via 64bit installation package. 32Bit IE thus far very well integrated into the 64bit Windows. Internal codes could very well be using the 32bit IE environment. To ensure better security and performance you want it all to be updated on the 64bit system instead of just half. One small example would be the Java installs. Several versions existing, and any of the vulnerable older Java files could be maliciously called with an undesirable end result.

Re: FreewareFiles.com has IE 10 out for W7, including x64!

To clarify for those confused: Enabling EPM will force IE into 64bit mode (enhanced security), disabling EPM will drop it down to 32bit mode. The same can be said for IE10 on Windows 8.

On sevenforums there was a MS release that said users of IE10 pre-release would receive the update to the final version via windows update yesterday, but those users on IE9 wouldn't be offered the update for a couple weeks............. I'ts Microsoft, so who knows.

I mainly use Firefox and Chrome on all my PC's. But I installed IE10 last night on my laptop. I'm use too and love my all Firefox and Chrome extensions. But how do you block ads in IE10 in Win 7 x64? I used to use many moons ago Ad Muncher. But since this is not my every day browser I'm looking for a free solution like Adblock Plus.

I want to play with IE10 but the ads are driving insane!!!!

Well, for the most part TPLs work http://www.fanboy.co.nz/ie.html. However, Flash-based ads will still sometimes come through, especially if they aren't from "ad servers". You'll see this with websites that have videos that auto-play coming from their own 1st party server. Disabling Flash will of course work, but then you're often left with the wanted Flash content on the website not working. I don't recall seeing a solution to this particular issue.

More on topic, IE 10 is coming through Windows Update as "Important" rather than "Optional". I just got the notification about 20 minutes ago.

There is also Easylist standard tracking protection list to block ads:). Many more such lists are available from -http://www.iegallery.com-
