  1. Besides Adaware and Spybot, what other freeware spyware programs would be helpful to use with Firebird 0.7?

    Are SpywareBlaster/Guard needed with Firebird?

Is there a referrer blocker that works with Firebird?

    Thanks....................................................................

They can both help protect you if you download & install lots of suspicious files. Although the Download protection in SG doesn't work with anything but IE, the real-time scanner stops & catches anything, no matter what browser you use.

You can already do this without installing any other programs. That's the great thing about Mozilla & Firebird, you can customize them almost anyway you want.

Open up FB, go to the address, type about:config & hit enter. Type or copy the following into the filer box. network.http.send You should now see network.http.sendRefererHeader with a value of 2. Doubleclick on it, change it's value to 0 & hit OK. The change should be instant but you may want to restart FB to be sure that no more referers are sent.

    Hi

I use Firebird myself. What exactly is referrer blocking, what does it do? What are referrers. Also are there any other good tweaks that would be useful to do to Firebird?

    Thanks.

Visit this page for tips, tweaks and tricks:

As far as referrer tags, U may do yourself more of a disservice than anything. The security risk is minimal and i'm not sure what blocking them accomplishes. A google search will give u hours worth of reading on this subject.
