I'm looking for free solutions that allow one to create and restore images from WinPE 3.x boot media.

EaseUS Todo Backup Free can do it. I'm somewhat wary of EaseUS Todo Backup Free though because I've read that it can change partition sizes unwantedly during a restore. (Still does?)

    Any others?

EaseUS Todo Backup Free v4.0 is out now.

Another Free program can do this is Macruim Reflect v4.xx

It is an excellent program. To build the WinPE 3.x, you need to download WAIK, a download of 1.7GB. Of course, once the WAIK is installed, you can build the WinPE 3.x for paid programs like Image for Windows (IFW).

One needs to use the trial version, not the free version, in order to do this, correct?

An advantage of EaseUS Todo Backup Free is that it builds the WinPE for you once you have WAIK installed.

With the PAID version you get the WinPE provided to you. With the FREE you have to build it yourself with WAIK.

Both with the PAID version and FREE version, they provide it to you.

For Macrium Reflect, the WinPE built with the free version does not allow one to create images, as far as I know. I'm not sure if the WinPE built with the trial version would work without limitations?

For EaseUS Todo Backup, the free version provides a WinPE builder, but you need WAIK installed first (see link in first post).

I just checked and one can create images without any problem. However, with the PAID version it allows one to have as a boot menu. Not with the FREE version. However, one can use EasyBCD to make the FREE version available as a boot menu.

You are absolutely right. My bad.

Excellent, thank you! I just tried the Macrium Reflect v5.0.4196 WinPE created by the free version and indeed it can create images :D.
