Used F-Secure a few years back and liked it, but it was a bit resource intensive. Took a chance with this version and while it may load as many as 15 processes, I find no slowdown at all and no heavier memory load than KIS 6.0. I think it's a keeper. XP Home, SP2, AMD Athlon 1.4 GHz, 512 megs of SDRAM. Works and works well.

After playing around with F-Secure, it has a big issue with uninstallation. I installed it on two different computers and in both, it didn't uninstall completely besides taking forever to uninstall. It is off my system.

Yes I used the removal tool, thats what I had to use because if left the service and startup items and the program folder which didn't let me manually delete. After that I used jv16 powertools to remove all the rest of F-Secure tracks leftover.

So, if I install this 1 year lisence, since it comes with spyware protection, can I disable other realtime AS protection? Is F-Secure good at spyware protection too?

Yes, you can disable the realtime spyware protection. F-Secure is reliable.

The spyware definitions of F-Secure do not update with the frequency of others, such as SAS.
I just checked the last update of my F-Secure and it updated the spyware definitions on Aug 7th. One week without spyware definition update.

The AV updates are normally twice per day, except weekends. It did update once this weekend.

A year ago I used to use Ad-Aware and updates were 1-3 times monthly.

I just checked mine and it is scanning OK. Scanned 4243 files and 0 skipped.

Strange how things are so different with various systems.

F-Secure brings new spyware definitions a few days later out, after Ad-Aware provided a new update.

Allow me to correct that, izi. I looked at the virus signature date instead of the anti-spyware date. :D Being that FSAVCS is a corporate product, it likely gets new signatures first. I received the anti-spyware update this morning at 10:18 EDT. No doubt you'll be receiving an anti-spyware update soon. They correlate with Lavasoft's Ad-aware signature updates, the latest being released 8-15-06.

I had some small hiccups with F-Secure. Sometimes the automatic update
failed to update all the modules. A manual update resolves it.

I installed F-Secure AV English, after uninstalling AVG Free, but I then couldn't get my PC to boot up properly. After logging in, the timer was on screen and I couldn't access anything. If I didn't log-in promptly, then I'd be stuck at the log-in screen with the same issue.

Re-booted in Safe Mode, uninstalled F-Secure and everything was fine again.

No other anti-spyware or AV apps running - I disabled those features in my Firewall (Zonealarm Pro).

Guess I'll try uninstalling Zonealarm and using the Windows Firewall, to see if that works.

It's odd that nobody else has had this problem...

I'm using an Athlon64 3200+ with a Shuttle SN95G5V2, so it should be up to the job.
