I used it for many years on my win98 boxes, and it's really excellent at what it is doing, with a scarying barking alert as a plus (even more spicy than Scotty's :)

Very tweakable (you can add reg keys you want it to watch, but it is already nicely implement as is) and impossible to bypass in my experience. Also wonder why this one is not more known and used. It was bit more taxing on resource (one of win98 achille wheels) than RegistryProt or Mike Lin's babies, but very more thorough. At times I tried some other apps of this kind (RegistryWatch, WinPatrol, et al...) but always came back to it...

From last year, I finally installed XP and bought one SSM pro license, so I thought Grr! would just be redondant on my setup. But your post settle back good memories and I installed it once again. As of now, seems to work as smoothly on windowsXP and does not fight with my other security apps...
    Just love those grumblings!

(btw, demo is fully fonctional, but is so good that I bought a license some years ago anyway)

Have a look at WinPooch. I posted in the past a ruleset (filter) which included Toni Klein's startup registry entries protection.

    Belllgamin, Lucas1985

    Thanks,

Bellgamin for the reminder and Lucas for the post (I am able to create links to threads, but not to inidividual post, so a PM with the how would be much appreciated).

It is really is a pitty the French developer left the project. The latest release only needs to protected against termination by malware (when you have another app, providing this service than it is no problem). The Anti executable part is basic, but I like WinPooch for its registry and file protection.

    Regards Kees
