    Incorrect.

lolwhat? Never heard of anyone saying installing MSE magically installed all updates.

Also OT, why are you running software by a company who does months upon months of testing on it's patches yet you don't trust them?

    So change it back...

The installation was automatic . It finished OK and it started updating . The initial update was long , long and in a moment it seems nothing was happening . Then the yellow shield appeared in the system tray telling me new updates were being downloaded and installed (my previous settings were Automatic Updates - disabled)
When I clicked on the yellow icon - I noticed tons of Office updates , Silverlight stuff - things I never had . Sorry , elapsed , I am not a liar.

MSE installs and runs "Microsoft Update" but hasn't changed the setting from "Download. . and let me choose.." to "Automatic" for me.

I don't use MSE so i don't really know one way or the other but according to this article the MSE installer does change the Automatic Updates setting.

I didn't eperience this, but my point was, you don't HAVE to keep it on automatic.

So yes, you're incorrect. But I think what you TRULY mean is

There is no requirement to keep it on automatic.
