I love Foxit Reader but I hate updating it because the last time I did it didn't remember my preferences and I had to set the whole thing up again. Has anyone else experienced this or is it only a problem on my end? I have Vista.

OK, it now asks for internet access on startup, and not just when updating.
    Thanks zfactor.

Yeah, confirmed here. Unchecked those boxes but my IE has Ask Toolbar installed after installing new Foxit.

GUYS DOWNLOAD THE .MSI it does not add anything to anywhere!!! you will not even see those screens with the msi installer... that i promise... just dont use the .exe or the zip with those you get the toolbar etc...

    http://cdn01.foxitsoftware.com/pub/foxit/reader/desktop/win/4.x/4.0/enu/FoxitReader40_enu.msi

direct link to fox it web site... i ONLY use the msi installer for foxit no toolbar to worry about..

also in case no one knows.. open a pdf in foxit. right click on a blank area of the toolbar inside foxit look down the list for advertisements and uncheck it now no more ads in the toolbar inside fox it either..

    Pay a close attention.
You need to select "Decline" instead of "Accept" at some point during the installation (as the link posted by Espozito suggests) to avoid Ask.
No Ask toolbar in IE here, and I installed with the "exe" installer.

Foxit still asks to access net at startup instead of when checking for updates, as was the case with previous versions. (if anyone wonders, yes, I disabled automatic update checker).
Not a concern (as it connects to Foxit site), just a headsup.

Yup, MSI is clean of the ask toolbar selection.

That seems weird to make an .exe one way and a .msi another.

After all once you see the msi without anything in it, why would anyone want to bother with the .exe.

A lot of people complaining about the .exe still installing stuff even though they uncheck it...

    THANKS

yup looks like they wised up and removed the msi installer. well if i can not find the installer WITHOUT ask i may just switch to something else after this.. anyway this version of foxit is SLOW to load larger pdf's compared to in the past. pdfxchange is WAY faster but i dislike the rendering of the pages compared to foxit. foxit imo is the closest thing to adobe as far as how the page looks and is sized for viewing
