I checked the SMART status on of my hard disks recently and got some pretty funny results, I had to share. Here you go: Ignore the Power On Hours count, it's been pretty much like that since the time I bought the comp and since HDD Health has been slowly moving the date forward. It wiggles, but it's cool. According to the data, I have at least until 2090 and maybe even 2208 I hope I have not angered the gods of the Megabytes by this vain showoff ... Cheers, Mrk
I would guess the SMART is not smart anymore. Having said that, I have a IBM IDE 7200 rpm and a 15500 IBM SCSI, both around eleven years old still running strong. I use the SCSI as my Ubuntu boot disk, even today, it manages to edge past my 7200 rpm 32mb cache 1TB Samsung.
