foomatic/gutenprint for Windows?

  1. Is there anything like Linux's foomatic or Gutenprint (i.e. a big database of free and/or open printer drivers) for Windows? One of the annoying things about Windows that I've noticed is that I have to install drivers for all kinds of stuff, including printers, which is a bit inconvenient on a laptop... I kind of miss the ability on Linux to just plug a printer in and have it instantly work using Gutenprint or foomatic drivers.

So... Any such thing? Or am I out of luck?
