Fixed disks showing in remove hardware

Hi

I'm a little baffled as to why my 3 fixed hard disks and cd rom show in the 'Safely remove hardwear'. I understand why removable stuff would be listed but not fixed drives ??

If you need to unplug a HDD, Safely Remove Hardware disables write
caching to the drive, so you won't lose any data, IIRC. I have never
seen a CD ROM listed, however.

Look under the drive's Policies tab in Device Manager in XP.
You can do the same thing there.

I dont have a problem with them being there it just made me curious as to why, it occured to me that if I were to remove a hard disk or cd rom come to that I would do it with the power well and truly off anyway . I have been using XP but have just moved over to Vista and to be honest I am struggling a little (Ok a lot) to get to grips with the different layout and terminology but I dare say I'll get there in the end. I am guessing they are SATA. Mine show up as well. Believe it is quit normal.
