I just saw that a new version of Fix-It was published:

I don't have it; I haven't yet decided whether to buy it.
But I do have an older version of SystemSuite.

Some of you might remember that Fix-It, SystemSuite, PowerDesk were formerly from Ontrack, and before that from Mijenix (oops, I have forgotten how to spell that).
Somehow it looks to me that there is now some link between VCOM and Avanquest.
What that link exactly is, I don't know at the moment......

Maybe there will come also a newer version of SystemSuite; I don't know.

I myself don't run any part of my old SystemSuite (I still have version 3.0) resident.
In the past I did use its AV (from Trend) on-demand; but my version is much too old for that now.
However what I do like, and use sometimes, is it registry cleaning feature.
    I like it.
It tells you about which reg-entries are save to delete, which might give problems, etc.
Well, of course as with any reg-cleaner, you have to be cautious !!!
    And no reg-cleaner is 100 % perfect.

An absolute bonus is that Fix-It and SystemSuite are coming with PowerDesk.
Although there is a stand-alone PowerDesk Pro 6, the new Fix-It comes with PowerDesk 5.
I myself have still the stand-alone PowerDesk Pro 5 (on my W98SE machine).
    I absolutely love it !!!
I would not want to run a machine without.

If any of you (with or without experience of earlier versions of Fix-it/SystemSuite) have installed the new Fix-It, I would love to hear your experiences ;)

    Regards, Jan.

I'm using Fix-It Utilities 5, so I would be interested in this as well. My experiences are similar to yours', Jan, because I have found it to be solid working with registry and disk cleaning and fixing, etc. The only problem I have had with it is that sometimes it "hangs" during diagnostics tests. Other than that, it has been a pretty solid and useful app.

    Thanks JRCATES !

Just curious, do you run any part of your Fix-It resident?

    Regards, Jan.

I'm not exactly sure what is considered "resident", are you referring to the "scheduled tasks" (like scheduled disk cleaning, clock synchronization, etc.)? I hope that is the case so that I can ask you a question. I set up a few tasks with Recovery Commander for sceduled back-ups when I first installed Fix-It U, but to my knowledge (and from what Task Scheduler is indicating) it has "never ran"! How have your experiences been with this?
