    My friend has Win95.

I gave her Sygate personal firewall.

One slight problem. It boots her out of yahoo IM occasionally.

I tested it myself and it does the same thing.

I have ZoneAlarms Pro, so I uninstalled Sygate as I did not actually need it.

Are there any other *effective* firewalls that can work on Win95?

Most of them seem to work on 98 & above.

Tiny Person Firewall 2.x is still available on the Net and works well with Win 95. Sorry, I don't have the URLs any more.

I think Kerio 2x might also run on an older Windows machine but I'm not sure.

Either of the above are very good firewalls and worth a look.

    Greetings

if your friend is still using win95 then chances are theirs is a smaller computer.............therefore, consider the resource "drag" when deciding on which firewall to install.

...if I recall correctly there is some kind of issue with win95 and kerio....so you should verify this one way or another.......kerio 2.15 may not install on win95. am not positive regarding this issue.....

zone alarm 2.6 also works on win95.....but use caution...this version of za is easily hacked if not properly patched......the patch is privately distributed so may not be easily located....(gee, must be getting old to have recalled this info) a higher version of za should be ok if not hard on resources.....check it out....

Tiny may be your best choice.........if you know how to make Rules....if not someone here most likely will offer their help.
