    Mimsy,
I uninstalled both SWB and FF completely, including registry entrys, on both machines before updating either program. My ME machine worked fine straight away but the XP machine didn't. Glad to hear it worked anyway.

I had same problem, but followed JC's instructions, worked perfectly, it now "stays" protected in SWB. :)

Huh? JC said so in a post just previously to make sure FF was CLOSED.

Now what I don't understand is why you removed the cookies from the Exception Lists, he never said to do that. Also they are listed as BLOCK, so I assume they should STAY in there.

Also, in there it has a big button, REMOVE ALL SITES, did you try that?

Unless I am totally wrong in this, but JC never said to remove them anyway, just that: "should now be a list of sites in that Exception lists. Then to double-check, please CLOSE FF and run SWB AGAIN......."

Which worked perfectly for me JC, thanks.

    XP PRO SP1 all patches.

That might explain it then, I did neither. But when I checked SpywareBlaster a moment ago it still had all protection enabled, so I am not going to complain about anything furhter. I'm happy the programs work the way they're supposed to.

And I'm using XP Pro, patced, but no SP.

    Re: Firefox and spyware blaster

What you talkin' 'bout? Spywareblaster does not run in the background.
It sets kill bits in the registry, blocks spyware/tracking cookies and puts malicious sites in the restricted sites zone.

There are two products: spywareBLASTER and spywareGUARD.
Only spywareGUARD runs in the background, spywareBLASTER does NOT.
