Unfortunately, I can't get the Quick Reply/Edit to work with the latest nightly. It seems to have a problem with the AJAX feature.
When I click the Quick Reply button, the editbox at the bottom is enabled so I can type a message, but when I click "Post Quick Reply" it shows the bold text "Posting Quick Reply - Please Wait" below the editbox and the mouse cursor changes to the hour-glass, but nothing happens. I can still click on the "Go Advanced" button and I can submit the reply from there. When I click the Edit button, nothing happens. To Edit, I have to right-click the edit button and copy the link, and then paste the link into the address bar, where the advanced edit page is loaded.
As you can see from my previous post it works in IE. Problem still exists when FF cache emptied, and also when on new profile.
I'm wondering is it's a FF problem or if it has to do with vBulletin (or maybe none of both). I'm going to install FF3 tomorrow and do some tests .
As mentioned, I'm using the latest nightly, which you can get from: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/tinderbox-builds/FX-WIN32-TBOX-trunk/ More information in the Firefox Builds forum nightly threads: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=633459
A little bit more testing revealed only older vB versions are having this bug. I've tested it at my own forums (3.6. and it work's flawlessly. At Wilders we use 3.5.3 and thats most likely causing the problem.
The new Firefox 3 appears to be using an expanded Content-Type that was not previously used and was not necessary to allow before. Try it again now.
Hi LowWaterMark, I am one of the admins in an education forum (www.recom.org). We have been facing the same problems of Quick edit and Quick reply not working in vBulletin 3.6.8 using Firefox 3 beta. It works alright in most other browsers including Firefox 2.0.0.12. I understand that the forum version is different, but I believe the nature of the problem should be the same. I would appreciate it greatly if you could share the technical details of how you solved the problem in your forum. It's been frustrating to see these AJAX functions not working in my forum. Thanks a lot!
