WSFuser, while your Settings for Clearing History screen capture shows a checked Download History, the Options > Privacy Tab shows a checked Remember my browsing and download history, and I recall reading (can't find it now!) that the Privacy Tab setting supersedes the other.

You can try about:config, search for browser.download.manager.retention and toggle it to 1 (removes downloaded files' entries from the Download Manager when the browser exits) or 0 (removes downloaded files' entries from the Download Manager upon successful download). See if that works for you.

I'm running windows 7 home premium without problem. What version of windows 7 and Windows 8 are you having problems with? Also what kind of activity are you doing with your browser at the time of crash? Flash content, etc.

Perhaps you are aware of the following, forgive if so. I downloaded something last week (with Cyberfox) and noticed the minutes (only digits) counting down up in the menu bar.

Clearing download history wouldn't make sense if you disabled it (there would be nothing to clear). Also I already set browser.download.manager.retention to 1.

I've disabled hardware acceleration as well as crash reporting. This has helped the overall stability of the Browser in my situation.

Yes, I know it sounds weird, yet if I can find where I read that, I'll post it.

Have you tried setting browser.download.manager.retention to 0 to see if that helps?

I hate the new download toolbar as I have to click it all the time to see the progress of my download. I think FF copied this from Safari (looks almost the same!). I expected something better with the beginning of version 20; it turns out to be a big disappointment!

    I'm running 64-bit Win7 home premium and Win8 Pro.
Firefox crashed right now when I was typing this comment. I've forwarded the crash report to Mozilla.

That's interesting, we both have 64-bit Win 7 Home premium. Hmm, I wonder if this has to do with how our browsers are configured. I haven't had trouble installing or running Firefox on any of our computers. We are running 32- and 64-bit versions of Vista and Seven. I've got an online midterm this week, so hopefully these issues don't catch up to me during the test.

You were right! It was a NoSquint issue and a recent update to the add-on has fixed it.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to check it via manual update.

Strange, this update did not break that add-on (Download Statusbar). It is working just fine here.

just got mine on Windows only minutes ago through Firefox own updater.

if you are on Linux you can expect a lag of up to a day and a half on average.

It looks like FF 20.0.1 is a Windows ONLY fix, i.e. those of us whom use Linux need not bother.

Also, with regard to chrisretusn's suggestion to use Download Status Bar, I use it with no problem - probably because it is also is with the Linux version of FF.
