As with any new version it may report incompatibility with some extensions and\or themes. Mr. Tech Local Install solved (at least for me) any of those problems. FF 2.0.0.2 running just fine here after about 12 or so hours. :thumb:

I didn't receive notification of the update available, but I checked manually by going to Help/Check for Updates. However, I kept getting the following message so I ended up downloading the .exe file and installing that way.

My two extensions (or Add-ons as they're now called) work fine, but a message came up saying the Java Console 6.0 wasn't compatible with this update of FF.

Anyone else experienced either of these two issues?

back when i upgraded to 2.0.0.1 i did receive teh message about Java Console 6.0. since then ive used Java 5 (Update 11).

java 6 still works btw regardless of the "incompatibility".

I do the same thing, I WAIT until my Firefox informs me. It's the most easy way to upgrade Firefox. I only have to use my eyes and pointing finger when it's there and that is good, because I'm lazy.

Yup, it's a wonderful extension indeed. Just rightclick any extension that has been disabled due to it being incompatible, and choose 'make compatible'.

It's as easy as that! http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p241/TonyKlein/Smilies/1450.gif

Unless you get the error like I was getting while checking for updates.

It has cleared now, and connects as it should.

There seems to have been quite a few unusual issues with the latest update to 2.0.0.2.

    Various error messages etc

I had to Dl the full new install, reboot and reinstall.
Prolly the easiest method to get past any probs.
Strange in that all prior updates have gone without a hitch.

(Love the little message that comes up in the install window"A little house keeping" :) )

    All good now.

"?? Escalader are you saying FF update has malware ??",

No, I'm saying that during the FF update I got the adware detected by SS. This is maybe coincidental but FF is free right?

This was the only malware/parasite I have seen in at least 6 months and that was what happened during the FF update. Hopefully no one else got it and it relates only to my PC.

The SpySweeper explanation (NOT MINE) was the information I gave everybody. Here it is again with quotes around SS message.

I have done a Spy sweeper scan after i installed the latest firefox and it found three tracking cookies so it could of been a coincidence or a an FP.

    There are always concerns re dud or malicious addons ;

There will always be users who Dl stuff from the wrong place: hard to stop.

IMHO: Might be better to point out that the "crapware utility" SpySweeper has possibly, once again F###ed up.

    Unless its true ;)

    Hi Longboard:

If for you FUD=fear uncertainty and doubt? then yes, I think you are right, these tools we all use bring it with them. A lot of it going around.

All I was trying to do was report for others what I observed, if it is meaningless then what can I say?

It happened as stated. I'm not trying to advocate SS or knock it.

    Take it easy.

I'm using the latest edition of Firefox. Had to delete the earlier model (long story).

What I miss is an addon that I had in the old version. I don't remember the name of it and hence, can't re-install. Maybe one or two of you will know what I mean if I tell you that when using Google Image facility, it allowed me to go directly to any illustration that the search threw up and it also provided an alternative list of search-engines.

I think that it also filtered out the potential harmful effects of Java and Java-script.

It was so useful and I'd like to have it back
