I have read this thread, as well as other threads which include articles to security bulletins. I'm still confused so I'll lay it out:

    1) Re Firefox 16.0 Mozilla states, "The vulnerability could allow a malicious site to potentially determine which websites users have visited and have access to the URL or URL parameters."

    2) Mozilla states, "Firefox 15 is not affected by the vulnerability" and "Downgrading to Firefox 15 is not a bad idea."

    3) In the press release for Firefox 16, Mozilla stated, "version 16.0 of Firefox closes a total of 14 security holes, 11 of which are rated as "Critical" by the project."

What did I miss? They expect one vulnerability to be fixed in short order yet they suggest downgrading to Firefox 15 which, by their own admission, has 14 more vulnerabilities (11 of which are rated "Critical") than Firefox 16. Huh?

Users of Firefox are strongly encouraged to download from Mozilla only as some websites use software pulled from the FTP server.

I'm getting tired of having that damned "Maintenance Service" come back every time I update, and having to uninstall it again.

At the rate they roll out updates these days I simply don't have the time to uninstall the old version, clean up/defrag, and do a fresh install every time. It would practically be a PT job. But I guess that's what I have to do to avoid this nuisance.

This is, by definition, adware. Very poor form Mozilla...

I am absolutely sick of all these updates. I started using Chrome, but came back to F.F, seems every 5 mins, I have to start outside Sandboxie to install an update.
    Thunderbird too .
I notice now, I get the warning of closing multiple tabs, with no option to opt out of the alerts. When I go into tools > options > tabs > the box " alert me when closing multiple tabs " is unchecked. Anyone else having this problem ? Cheers

Did you look in about:config to see whether it's turned on or off?

    about:config
type in search: browser.showQuitWarning - should be false in your case. If not, it's bolded and shown as true. Toggle to false.

There's another one that I'm not sure of either if it would apply.
    about:config
type in search: warnOnQuit - and look if default or not.

Hope the above helps. Nothing wrong by trying eh?

The Maintenance service can be tweaked to accommodate your requirements.

Firefox and T-Bird have of late introduced a new Windows Service,
specifically this one. Many find it a bother that it is there others have no quarrel with it. It is user choice whether to stop this service via your software of via Services.

We want to be careful with the liberal use of http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config at the risk of trashing your installation. Generally these settings are used at the behest of Mozilla support, only.

I am not getting the warning. As far as I can remember, I did not make any changes in about:config but maybe I forgot.
