Was uploaded to FileHippo. Received notification from Update Checker applet and downloaded and installed the new version.

It does NOT affect Waterfox - which remains at 15.0

I generally download at Source. But that's not a requirement.

I updated to Firefox 16.0 on all three of my Windows XP Pro SP3 (32 bit) PC's. I have had no noticeable problems so far.

Yeah I think because its not on the main page. Weird thing is, last night, at home, it auto updated to 16.0.

Today at work, on both of my pc's its saying the same as you, that 15.0.1 is up to date. But again, if you go to the main Firefox page, it still has 15.0.1.

    Weird.

I did a manual update yesterday via the about Firefox and when I looked into Programs, there were 2 versions of Firefox showing... 15.0.1 and 16.0. Duh! Needless to say I uninstalled 15.0.1 but did not include the removal of its data and poof, version 16.0 had disappeared as well, thus no Firefox browser.

Downloaded Firefox 16.0 via Pale Moon browser and installed 16.0 All is fine.

PS: the above happened to some other Firefox users as well. I saw a registry key with version 15.0.1 when checking things out after finding the 2 versions in Programs. That key disappeared after uninstalling v 15.0.1 and installing v 16.0

I'm reading from a number of unsubstatiated sources that Mozilla have revoked the internal update, if this is true, this would be troubling although not confirmed in any way. Others are reporting stability issues post installation.

Official Mozilla Support would be the correct avenue to direct and seek recovery suggestions.

Happened to you as well in the past? Since I've been using Firefox and updating manually since Nov 2004, this was the first time something went wrong. I never let Firefox doing an automatic update as I like to be in control of when and how although I've set Firefox on automatic updates. Same manual updates of all other programs that need updating. One can see then right away if an update is misbehaving or not.

Thanks for the link siljaline. If an update will be released tomorrow then I just will not uninstall v 16.0. EDIT: Currently using Pale Moon browser.

This is exactly what happens when you release new versions at a predetermined rapid schedule. The developers probably are forced to release a new version even if it is not properly tested or even fully updated.

I updated to version 16.0 via manual update. I don't know about you but I feel this version is slower compared to version 15.

Will there be any problem if I don't uninstall one of these 2 Firefox (the old one to be exact) from the add/remove program section?
Why is this kind of thing happening anyway?

    Thanks.

I will have to agree. After rolling back to 15.0.1 it seems that it is a little faster than 16.
