File system error: Invalid Format

Hi there, I had a poke around and did some searches but couldn't find anything related to this problem.

I can't make incremental backups because TI says that I've got errors on my HDD, however, I ran chkdsk /r and still have the same problem. Looking at the drive in detail in TI, the File System Errors dialogue says: "File system error: Invalid Format." All else is well, and this laptop is nearly new, so I'm somewhat stuck with having to create uncompressed 60GB backups...
