EICAR test file is standart test sample that should detected by every AV (just for testing your AV)

Recall - Have you read the EICAR website? If not, I suggest you do. http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm

The EICAR Test File is very handy. I use it to demonstrate what will happen when a customers AV detects a Virus.

That is a virus. A virus test file.

Strictly no it's not. It is a file that is benign and can do nothing other than display a message if it is not blocked by an Anti Virus. It cannot do anything else.

It is purely used to test AV systems and check detection and removal.

    Correct, but not a virus.
