    Hello,

Im thinking of purchasing KAV (after several months of trialing different products). I have a few quick questions i wish to ask however, as im still deciding weather to purchase the personal or the pro version.
    1) Can KAV 5 personal detect macro/ script virus' (i know it doesnt have a dedicated monitor)
    2) When are we expecting a mentainance pack for Pro? (with options to use the extended databases)

    Thanks :)

Both personal & Pro detect macro & script viruses.

Skip pro, there are too many issues with it right now.

What issues are there with pro? Ive been running it for a good week now (trial) havent noticed any problems.

Initially i disabled iStreams, but the last few days ive left it enabled, it considerably speed up my computer, i havent noticed any side effects (i dont use System Restore and fragmentation levels are normal ~0.2%)

There aren't many problems with Pro (at least i didn't see them :)), but there some who feel that 5.0 has less configurability than the old 4.5 Pro and the fact that the extended signature databases are not yet available (they are in personal) has left some of the users with a feeling that it was released too soon.
I am not suggesting that it was released in a buggy state, but that it perhaps wasn't equiped with all the things that will come in the upcoming maintenance pack (promised late this month).
I use Kaspersky Personal, but have trialed Pro for a couple of weeks and like yourself didn't see any issues either with or without IStreams.
The unofficial Kaspersky forum is a good place to learn about Kav. :)

Don Pelotas, thanks alot for the helpful input :)

Quick questions though: How does the network attack protection of KAV 5 Personal work? How does its Macro virus detection compare to Pro, is detection greatly reduced?

    Thanks again.

Despite what the first respondent had to say, there are not a lot (or indeed any) 'issues' with Pro. The main difference between the two is that Pro has the capacity to scan for macros embedded in office documents while the standard version does not. It is only relevant if you are going to be dealing with, e.g., word documents in attachments etc. Extended data bases are likely to be available with Pro in the future, but they are of limited pratical value in normal useage.
