I'll have mercy since this goes back so far. A lot of early rock and roll came from
    the blues performers.

    Big Mama Thornton

Name one hit song by Ray Charles. This should be easy.

Also, anybody know who did "Sleepwalk"?

Too easy -- I could come up with a fair list without even stopping to think. "Georgia on My Mind" was probably the biggest.

And Sleep Walk was by Santo & Johnny.

Excellent! "Georgia on My Mind" is my personal favorite by Ray Charles.

This one's just a teensy bit off-topic, in the sense that it's not so much a trivia-quiz item as asking for help filling a gap in my personal memory that's driving me up the wall.

Anyone remember the name of the group (or for that matter, even heard of them) who did an oddball version of country-rock and country ballads with a strong Latin (Afro-Cuban, if you prefer) backing? Just to make it really tough, I'd be hard-pressed to come up with even a rough date (maybe mid-70's?), plus I don't think they ever did have any major hits.

Ok, and I'll throw in a fairer one too -- who was Gloria Esteban's group?

I can get half of this question. Miami Sound Machine with Gloria Esteban.
