Gr8 find, ronjor. Visalia & Tulare (locations depicted in the photos) are farm-based communities just a hop-step-and-jump north of me. My dad grew up in Dinuba, a raisin'-growin' town just outside Tulare (pronounced "2-larry".

As an aside, the Getty Museum lies about 90 miles south of here, in the hills above the I-405 (San Diego) Freeway. Last time I visited (several years ago), they had a terrific collection of deguerrotype photos from the mid-1800s. Exhibits change frequently, but any of you headed this way should add the Getty to your itinerary. The only cost is about 10 bucks for parking!

I would like to see The Getty Museum and the Ansel Adams Gallery.

I did black and white photography for a number of years using Ansel Adams as a teacher.

I studied all the old photographers and well appreciate how difficult it was to get those photos.

Given your home state of Texas, I would also highly recommend the Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage located here:

    Autry Museum

Allow no less than a half day to view everything you wish. Kinda like visiting the Smithsonian exhibits....one visit is never enough.

Their collection of historic western firearms, saddles, etc. is absolutely 2nd to none. ;)

Lots of high school memories there....Spy vs Spy, etc. The crazy writers/authors crew @ MAD got away with a lot of stuff that would otherwise have been censored in the day. :D

Yeah, MAD was great. Did anyone else like 'Heavy Metal'?
