I have ImgBurn installed. I have used that to burn a bootable disc for KNOS OS.

I could I use that to make the CD?

No need. Makedisk will burn the CD.

    See Message #15.

    Just a little background.
I have been getting warnings of OS drive failure since early April.

Also, when I started getting these warnings, I installed HDD Regenerator.

So, I might still have an ongoing problem with the harddrive, even after the restore from the IFW backup.

Yes, I will...but the funny thing is I just did a check with CrystalDisk Info, and it indicates the drive is good...go figure.

I went to my local computer shop yesterday, and found out that I can get a 'black' 500 GB harddrive for AU$109. He said I could then clone my current C: drive to the new harddrive. I will get them to do it, since I don't have a cloning program. The guy at the shop, uses Acronis.

Also, I managed to boot into another snapshot, so will not go ahead with restoring the IFW image at this stage.

    Tarnak,

I missed your last post. You do have a cloning app. You have several.

A 1 TB WD Black is $89 at Umart.

I got a price of $71 from Itech. Also, they will install and clone for me from $45 to $60, depending how long it it takes to do. I really don't need a 1 TB drive in this 6 yr old system. Maybe I can partition the drive, at a later date.

I'll let you know how it goes...Thanks very much for your assistance.

That's a good price on the HD. But I'm confused as to what they are going to clone. Your OS doesn't boot. If they clone it to another HD it won't boot either. Or are they going to restore your IFW image to the new HD?

I'm confused as I don't use snapshots. Can you boot into Windows normally?

I have been using ISR software on my computer since 2006, and it has saved me from calamity many times. That is why I have never gotten around to learning image restore software like IFW, etc. I will try to get to grips with doing it differently, in future.

If a snapshot went bad, I would delete...and then copy one of the remaining bootable snaphots. That way, I usually had at least 3 snapshots available to boot into at any one time. At least, until I got the warning of imminent hard drive failure since April. But, the hard drive is not making any loud noises...so I consider that a good sign.

OK. Understood. You can clone your current OS to a new HD with your installed IFW. Easy to do and it will only cost you the $ for the HD. It just depends on whether you are confident about installing HDs into your computer. Just a few screws and a screwdriver.

Do you want to do the clone yourself with IFW?

I'll let them do it this time, and try and learn how to later.

Good idea. You will be on top of it next time. Learning how to play inside a computer case can be very rewarding.

At your leisure have a look at "Copying Partitions or Drives with Image for Windows". Page 94 in the userguide.
