I haven't tried V 2009 yet. The gui of 2008 is fine, but I don't like the way it opens the main windows when I click on its tray icon. The main windows appears slowly and it consumes a large amout of cpu.

That is the problem with the entire program. It runs heavy in all of our tests and on my personal laptop in particular.

I find that the main window of F-Secure 2008 opens almost instantly on my computer. The only slowness I experience is when downloading new messages into Outlook 2007. This problem may have something to do with running SpamBayes concurrently with F-Secure 2008.

Does anyone know if F-Secure 2009 will support spam filtering with IMAP? In F-Secure 2008, spam filtering works only with POP3.

I've just installed on my laptop and I'm getting the exact same thing. all components show 'never' as update installed last even though automatic updates is saying successful. It's seems almost that the server it's connecting to is either down or has no updates on it as it seems very quick to check.

I've sent in a support request and fxdiag file so I'll see what happens but at the moment I'm not happy solely due to the fact that I'm not protected.

well at least now they have two people report the same thing and two fsdiag files it should be fixed quicker now.

let's hope so. As an interim solution, I was looking at some way of changing the update server to the same as what 2008 uses but doesn't like it's possible - not that it would probably work with this beta anyway!

Wow how many engines does this use? The last version used Onion,Kaspersky,Libra,Pegasus and some other engines. This results in false positives.

Never had one single FP with 2008. They've been using these engines for years haven't they?

Lol. I was talking theorically, using many engines does increase the number of possible false positives.

    nope it doesn't mean anything.....
it depends on the engines, you can have an AV with an engine which spits out 10 times more FPs then 5 other AVs put together. (bad signatures, to strong packer/cryptor detection etc.).
The f-secure engines don't have a high FP count.

Hi. Yeah, I got an email also but my work pcs (inc. my laptop) have just been updated with FS Client Security so I don't have it installed anymore. But please let us know if they find out what the problem is.

Also, on a sideline, FS IS 2008 is now at build 103 (initial release was 101) which seems to contain an updated Antivirus module 7.44 (was 7.30 before).

I really recommend you to install the new F-Secure sfotware. Very stable, low resource usage (previous versions are very hungry for resources) and the protection of F-Secure... Now with Gemini engine to help pro-active detection without signatures... It's very efficient!

IS2009 has the new F-Secure Engine (Hydra) and Kaspersky for signature based detection. The two other engines in the product are DeepGuard for proactive/behaviour and Blacklight for rootkits.

    Hi Pat,
When would you guys release FS Client Security 8? I would really like to know. FSCS v7.11 corresponding to FSIS 2008 so FSIS 2009 should be corresponding to FSCS 8, am I right?
    Regards,
    Oliverjia

    Hey Patrik,
does that mean the ad aware engine has been ditched?
if so what took you so long LOL.
does that also mean that the f-prot macro engine has been taken out?
so the hydra engine is just an f-secure in house engine?
i was hoping f-secure would do this.

Yes, Draco is not there and neither is Orion and Libra. And absolutely, F-Secure Engine is our own in-house engine.
