Has anyone used F-Secure lately? I dont want to uninstall MBAM to try it out. Its one of the programs on its conflicting softwares. Im mostly concerned with resource usage and detection as I am starting to pick up online gaming again.

Got rid of it despite its good detection rates due to the required Firewall.

probably the best AV i have ever used. light as a feather and the deepgaurd component has detected all zero day malware i have thrown its way. not one false positive so far

    firewall can be switched off.

Could be, but then you have to deal with the warning.

Using the internet security here with no problems. Only thing the firewall has asked me about is a component of Rollback RX. Love this F-Secure so far.

I have used F-Secure in the past with satisfaction. At that time I did not have to remove MBAM, but have no experience in the last 3-4 years.
I have posted many times that I won't use an AV that does not run well with MBAM. I am fully persuaded that some degree of layering is necessary, and have found that MBAM provides it.

Jumping through hoops is not my thing. They shouldnt uninstall it if they allow you to reinstall it after wards.

fair enough, to each their own.

small price to pay in my view for having a near perfect antivirus. although i can see why it would put someone off. the fact that double clicking the fsecure icon opens up the widgets instead of the GUI nearly put me off plus the fact that they have no offline installer.

I also love LookNStop Firewall. Ive put alot of time into learning it and using Phant0ms ruleset. Its pretty much bullet proof.

then you can use the antivirus edition instead of the internet security edition as the firewall can be switched off without getting any warnings etc or does fsecure want to uninstall lookNstop during install?

I just want AV. I dont want firewall at all. Does the AV version still have the FW? And is the security suite key backwards compatible?

Does anyone know the update frequency for the AV 2013?
I can't seem to find any update settings within the GUI, but according to this review the program checks for updates "several times a day"...

It is every 1 hour. You can see as far as I can remember in the settings - it is written when was the last and when the next update will be.

F-Secure's pricing is still way too high.

Until it drops by about half it ain't worth thinking about.

A license for 3 for $39.99 US seems cheap to me.I have AntiVirus 2013 on three systems all running perfect with no annoying popups.

F-Secure has always charged more than the competition.

    Go price Dr Web.

I appreciate F-Secures cleanness in design and clear easy to understand prompts. With their low FP rate its a great AV for non-tech people.

Nice hint, thanks but I can't find it that way either. I'm digging through settings and statistics with no avail, AV 2013 version. I'll assume that update checks are made hourly :)

    I agree.
FSAV 2013 is incredibly light, unobtrusive and a very well-written program. Without a doubt, I'll purchase a single one-year license, maybe 2y, when my trial expires :thumb:
