I am aware of the fact that running two AVs simultaneously (real-time) is not recommended, so please do not point this out.

Seeing how little resources these two antiviruses use, I was thinking that they would complement each other if I ran both at the same time. (In this case, NOD32 is not detecting the "Dumador" backdoor (irreal), while F-Prot is detecting it).

Also, with Mike's new "employee" Maximus, F-Prot is increasingly being able to detect more. I've been running the two as real-time protection for 3 days now, and there has been little noticeable slowdowns.

I know how inadvisable it is to run more than 1 AV program at once, but at least it's not KAV and AVK ;)

Please post your experiences with running both F-Prot and NOD32 :)

NOD is not detecting Dumador? Even with the latest defs?

    NOD32 - v.1.1631 (20060628 )
    Virus signature database updates:
    Win32/Adware.BHO.Delf.G (2), Win32/BO2K.Y, Win32/BO2K.Z, Win32/BOXP.A, Win32/Cakl, Win32/Cakl.C, Win32/Cakl.D, Win32/Cakl.E (2), Win32/Cakl.F, Win32/Cakl.G, Win32/Ciadoor.13, Win32/CMDer.K (2), Win32/ControlTotal, Win32/Dialer.GBDial.D, Win32/DTR.16.E (2), Win32/Dumador (4),

I have both programs but, do not run them together.

Using Blackspear's "Extra" NOD32 settings, with all modules activated except EMON.

So u mean now we should recommend two AV at a time for best protection( provided it is proven that there is no conflict)?
Its, a pitty! How many appliances we will need to protect our PC?

Alternative browser, some antivirus, some firewall and some antispyware.

Basically all you need is Opera/Mozilla, avast!/AntiVir, Windows XP SP2 Firewall and WindowsDefender.
All are free and should provide good level of protection without any unecessary overhead (i'm like  when i see ppl with 1 main AV and 3 backup ones, 5 antispyware tools). Installing too much security software can sometimes be worse than allowing your PC to get infected once...
    Balance is the key!:D

I wouldn't suggest two AV's for anyone even if one is on demand.

@ Kye-U maybe you can disable AMON module (Nod32) and leave the rest (IMON, EMON etc)

    (or anyother overlapping features)

The file's a Dumador dropper detected by NOD32. After dropping the file (blocked by AMON), the program crashes.

Well, my humble question.... Couldn't you answer also to my question on that thread :Win32/TrojanDownloader.Small.dcq I've started on NOD32 Forum. I"ve seen the answer was very simple and I think everybody wanted to know it.

MD5 of your sample and the sample I was refering to match. As I said, it just drops a file detected and blocked by NOD32, and then crashes.

Thank you, Marcos! Hope the 3 other Trojan.Agents I've sent are detected also after extraction. :D

Blackspear's extra settings are for Control Center's NOD32 profile .
Your screeshot shows you use My Profile . Since this is an EXE file , is your NOD32 My profile like that :

Hmmm, $29 + $39 = $68 then later 2 subscription fee for two (very good) AVs.

:gack: I have to many other obligations  not for me. Sorry.

    Pick One. ;)

Good to see that both the F-PROT and NOD32 resident scanner does not conflict with each other. However, F-PROT 6 beta doesn't allow you to choose what to install, and you have to install the resident scanner by default. But Command AV allows you to choose only to install the on-demand scanner, if you want Command AV on-demand only as a backup.
