well I said when it was Vista ready, I was buying, so keeping my word. Good work to F-Prots whole gang and especially Frisk and IC. Hmmm, ready to have me in your camp.

 

Yes, the link that I put seems download the old version, apparently ?!
But in the ‘update center’, I have find the latest version, for Vista.

 

ok thank you,I Trialed when I had XP and it was like none existent on my machine, extremley light.Have to give a go On vista.

 

I will immediately buy a license,too -- but only if they give me a one dollar discount (because I only have one computer).

 

Just downloaded trial for vista not good.
1.Sound when virus found test with eicar Detection but No sound.
2.Tray icon vanished
3.Real time stoped running.
4.starts up again on reboot

 

I am not sure that can be arranged, but nothing is impossible. Even without it though, F-Prot is one of the cheaper of the paid AV software out there. The licensing policy just makes it even sweeter for those with multiple systems, which is becoming much more common these days.

No false positives.

 

That isn't a very informative post.
Was it supposed to detect anything?
How large were the files?
Was there any malware present? that should have been detected?

 

It's the same old tune. He is once again boasting (indirectly) about his security set-up. Ad nauseum

 

There is nothing to detect. I don't use scanners to keep my computer malware-free. I just run them one time to verify my solution, because that is the only way for me. F-PROT is one of the few ones, I didn't run yet.
Until now all scanners are equal to me, because of this : 0 threats found.
The only excitement are the false positives, but not with this one.

i had the same experience when i tryed it yesterday.
the betas i tryed a month ago worked fine.
hopefully these issues will be fixed soon.

anyone here that have a bunche of malware samples and have tested this new version of F-Prot, is it good or not on detection-rate?

 

and do you really think you can judge that based on a "bunch of malware samples"?

 

There's no need to doubt F-PROT's detection rate; if it can maintain its current growth rate, it's a definite up-and-coming challenger to the top dogs when it comes to detection. The heuristics, in particular, are a work of art... though I think I may have spoke too soon when I said it doesn't produce the same freezes as NOD32 does when scanning heavily obfuscated files.

Is F-Protect getting close to Avira and Nod32 in terms of heuristic detection? What about overall detection? Not asking for A is better than B analysis, but your own best guess as to the efficacy of F-Protect.

I like the program, it runs fairly light, and am looking for any thoughts on the current state of detection.

 

I would say they are all 3 very good in that area.

 

Good on you F-Prot for a solid product. You already have my support from the beta version performing so well.

Sure it doesn't have the extra bells and whistles others might have, but they don't have a product that's light on resources (even when scanning), thorough scan completing at lightning speed, and a low price.

Program has support even on here from the very people who create it.

What more do users want eh?
