    Well, about myself:

    no drivers-licence for me......

Since some months I have so much more troubles with my vision :'(

Finally, at the end of this week I'll have an appointment with the eye-doctor (oculist in English?).
I wished it was my own eye-doctor (who I visited about 30 times in the last few years), but then I should have waited another half year.....
I can hardly read my monitor.
I can at the moment only hope that it will be a "simple" surgery (like I once had), and that it is not the same problem as I have with my right eye......

Enough for now; it's going to take again several months....

    Congrats to Blazer!

And I wish the best of luck to you FanJ; I don't know what having eye trouble is like (yet) but I'll likely find out someday as it does run in my family :doubt:

    Hey Blaze!!

I don't what they were thinking when they gave you the license so don't attract any attention to yourself for a bit just in case! :D

    Seriously though, congratulations.

    .. and dear Jan...

I wish you loads of support, strength and good spirits in your dilemma !!! As my dearest friend likes to say (with massive understatement) "You are a good chap!" You are one of the nicest people I've met on the net, and I wish you all the very best in your predicament.

    Hey guys,

Thanks for your well wishes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Dear Dan,
Thanks a lot for your very kind and warm words !!!!!!!!!

    Well, to explain a bit:
Since several years my right eye sees hardly more than mist (due to a problem in the retina in the back of my eye); although, and I'm very happy with that!!!, my vision in that eye was improved after a cataract-surgery. But a cataract is completely something else: in that case the lens (right word?) in the front of your eye gets troubled: in that case you can get a new lens.
At the moment I don't know what's the problem with my left eye but the vision is rapidly going worse. If I'm sitting right in front of you at a table, your face is only very misty for me at the moment. I can only wait (but I'm eh... a bit nervous...... ).

    Hi friends,

Thanks ALL for your warm and kind words !!!!!

Well, today I was at the hospital.
It looks like that I have now the same problems in my left eye as I have/had in my right one: retina problem and cataract; no cure for the first, cure for the second.
And it seems that there is some "film" on the "artificial" lens in my right eye; but that could be cured.
Anyhow, more "research" (photos etc. etc.) will be done in the coming weeks.
It might all take "some" time........
    o_O :doubt: :'(

Hopefully they'll be able to do something about both problems. There are a few treatments for retina problems now.

The possibility of losing one's vision is to me, as an artist, very scary....I couldn't imagine being in your shoes.

May it all go well. :-*

Congrat to you Blazey and by all means be careful out there driving around...

FanJ, my friend, I really hate to hear this, but I am sure things will get better... I will definitely include you in my prayers... I am sure your patience will pay off and in time as you say, your vision will vastly improve... Hang in there my friend and my thoughts are with you... Good things come back to good people and you are one of the best.... "You reap what you sow...."

    Regards,
    Kent

    Hi FanJ,

I agree with what puff-m-d said and please keep hope. One never knows what medical research may find as a new cure or treatment. They're always making progress...But I understand and sympathize with your disappointment.

    Dear all,

    Thanks, thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!
All your kind and warm words mean so much to me !!!!!
Being part of the Wilders-family and having you all as friend is one of the best things ever happened to me.
Hugs for you all ! ;)

The photos are going to be taken in about a week, and then another week till they can tell me more. And then -I guess- several months before surgeries. The cataract-surgery in my right eye (about 3 years ago) helped in a way (although it cannot cure the retina problem which is some kind of "degeneration" of the retina).

    Warm regards, Jan. :)

    A little "update":
Photos taken earlier today in the hospital (I wasn't feeling quite well, but it slowly improved).
Vision in the left eye less than 5 % at the moment, but I know from experience in my right eye that that will be better after some surgery....
Have to wait another week till they can tell me more.

    Cheers, Jan.

    Hi,

Well, today an appointment with the Hospital.
    I didn't hear much news.
Retina problem in the left eye seems at the moment to be a different one compared to my right eye.
They want to wait and see how everything is going over 2-3 months.
Good news: I'll be back then at my trusted own eye-doctor.
"Bad" news (but somehow I expected this):
They first want to see how it develops in the coming months.
I have to wait till midth Febr. 2004 when I have the next real appointment.
Until then they also don't want to do a surgery at the cataract.
So, until then I gotta live with this.......
