Extendia AntiVirus

Hi Hobnob.

I have been looking around the extendia avk site too.
Sent an email also regarding support and renewal terms.

The page being under construction makes sense after I clicked the antivirus labs link.
AVK=GData.
It seems that Gdata is looking for U.S. partners.
It may be that ValuSoft and Boomerang just joined as U.S. partners.

If you get any email response would you post about it?
I'll do the same.

I take it from your list of software, you are using AVK as a backup to KAV? I'm trying AVK as my primary AV.

 

I've been trying to update my AVK Pro for the last 3 days but all i'm getting is a, 'No connection to the update server can be established(invalid answer)'

I havent changed anything on Extendia or my pc.Am I the only onegetting this response?

Yes.I use extendia as a backup to KAV.
Having a second scanner is a habit that I acquired.

Extendia AVK(not the Pro version)updated for me today.

If you have a firewall, check your logs.
Maybe the firewall is blocking update connection?
Just a thought.

I understand that Extendia AVK uses the KAV engine. Does anyone know which version, 3.5, 4.0 or 4.5?

 

In addition to octogen question above. I wonder if any of you who emailed support ever got a respose back to your questions?

Regarding the engine version--I'll leave that one to Technodrome, or another mod, but AFAIK, it's "one of the latest".

Regarding support: My experience was a fairly good one. I e-mailed about an error message when AVK started up saying that there were "Missing files, KAV engine". which tech support said may have been caused by an incompatability with PC-cillin.

Response time was within 24 hours, and although I don't think PCC was the problem (it resolved itself after a component download about 3 weeks later) they did provide a prompt answer.

Haven't needed help with 'em since.

I would of guessed for the price and since they are just using KAV's engine that there really wouldn't be any support at all. But I guess I was wrong.

If there using KAV's 4.5 engine then I have a problem. I tried KAV 4.5 a couple weeks back and it didn't like my system very well for some reason (WinME). It just keep freezing up my system right after KAV loaded. So I then tried KAV 3.5, since i've heard such good things about that version and that one worked great. So that's one reason why im very curious as to what KAV engine there using.

I have extendia avk pro installed and I have discovered that it is very sensitive to firewall settings to access the updates.
