    Man this is so complicated... :doubt: From what I understood is if you apply the patch to certain anti virus software, you're safe.. Does that mean if you have other AV scanner like NOD, Kaspersky, Norton you're safe because it is already included in updates?

    Yes it is complicated. There are security holes, bugs, etc, are in virtually all software. There was a statement made once "All software has bugs" or something similar.

    Secunia issues alerts and warnings on exploits that have been tested and proven to be true.
    As far as an exploit happening to you or me, who knows what the odds are.

    I think the most a computer user can do is use the tools for security that come with the software and keep their system up to date as much as is possible. Also, you can use third party software to help protect your system, the "layered approach".
