Ok, I discovered next problem with ESS.

It seems that some of the last virus or module ESS update (AH again?) is blocking FreeRapid Downloader from starting - only splash screen briefly flashes - it's java application.

I can confirm, that it worked few days ago and it's working on PCs without ESS.

NOW on every PC with ESS installed it will fail to start. Disabling firewall and virus protection did not help - only killing ekrn.exe.

Can someone confirm it and again - can ESET fix it?

    Thanks.

    Regards

    Tom

UPDATE: Problem is confirmed, FRD will fail to start when feature "Allow only one instance" is enabled in FRD settings. ESS will block the only one instance check.
Workaround: Start FRD with this switch: frd.exe -Doneinstance=false (for example change your shortcut). This will disable the problematic function.

Nope, I already have last Java, and I tried to reinstall it too. You have Vista or XP? I tested it on Vista machines.

Hmm, it's odd, because I'm not alone with this problem.

Even the developer of the application confirm it and posted some workaround for it:

    http://wordrider.net/forum/read.php?7,440

This is what he think that is causing the problem:
"If you disable the feature "Allow only one instance" you won't have problems with ESET Antivirus.
This feature tries to settle one net port and the antivirus blocks it. FRD considers this behaviour as already running another FRD instance. Therefore FRD does not launch itself.

The antivirus considers the FRD's behaviour as an attempt to create server (as trojans do). It's Java way (http://www.devx.com/tips/Tip/13745 - here is a description how it works internally)."

But problem is, that ESS doesn't ask when FRD is trying to act as server, so I cannot allow it.

ESET, please look at this bug...

    Thanks.

    Regards

    Tom
