ESS and IDS: Allowing services

    Hello folks,

    Maybe somebody can enlighten me in this:
    Is it considered ok to just allow services under the IDS options part? Does the Windows 7 firewall block those services or does it allow them anyway and standard settings of ESS are just overprotective?

    For example:

    I'm sure that I need the 1. one, I don't know for what 2 and 3 are needed in detail, but if Windows 7 integrated FW isn't blocking those services I'd allow them to prevent problems.

    While the default configuration is the most secure, it is fine to enable the services under the IDS section of the configuration. If you are using the ESS firewall the Windows firewall should be disabled.
