After yesterday update to this version of ESS, Thunderbird failed to start. Can someone confirm this?

That appears to be the case. XP home, SP3

EDIT: I unchecked Email client protection, and Thunderbird started . I rechecked Email client protection, and Thunderbird now starts.

I also noticed that Thunderbird will start correctly if receiving mail. If there is no mail, Thunderbird dont start.

Same problem here on several PCs (XP and 2000) with the german version of ESS 4.0.417.0.

Disabling the Thunderbird add-in instantly cures the problem so does starting Thunderbird in safe-mode.

My temporary workaround is to replace the eplgTb.dll by the previous version 4.0.314.0 (using the Microsoft DaRT CD) and all is well again.

There definitely seems to be an issue with the Thunderbird plugin from 4.0.417.0

We'll check it out, at least I haven't seen yet on our systems nor have been reported the issue from other source than this thread.

Only workaround is to get open Thunderbird, and dont close it. On previous version all was right, and no problem at all (ok, firewall is another story)
So this is problem only in latest ESS. 4.0.417

well, today - uups, make that yesterday - I have submitted a (lengthy - at least by the looks of it ;)) "Kontakt Formular" from my PC - so there ought to turn up "another source" pretty soon.

When looking into this, please give Thunderbird at least 2 chances not to start - by my experience the issue occurs only from the second start onwards.

As I take it, Pepi74 is trying to tell you the same story.

i thought i may have been wrong,so i checked integrate into Mozilla Thunderbird again.
the second time i went to open Thunderbird,it wouldn't open.
    so i unchecked it,logged off,back on,and bingo.
    Thunderbird opens ok.
    regards

    You are fast man!!
But since there is a lot problem with V4, I back to V3 of ESS.

And one more thing (non related to this bug)- V4 od ESS is strongest AV ever.
And that is big, very big plus for V4!

Firewall was not issue (in mine case) 1045 module works ok
Thunderbird failed to start - this is first
Document protection cannot be started from windows menu ( because mine english is bot so good, maybe will be best to put small movie on youtube)
But first give me that patch so I can move back to V4. :)
Then I will report anything I found (first i will check is anybody posted issue before)

Right click on the ESET tray icon, disable the firewall momentarily, and see if ThunderBird opens. Then re-enable the firewall.
