Well, I'll just settle on the best of both worlds this way: NOD32 as resident and EScanFree for on demand. :p

I dont see how this is not about NOD32 anymore... I think it should go back where it belongs... In the NOD forum

This board is weird. As soon as you compare NOD32 with some other AV,they punch the thread in Other AVs section. Why the f shouldn't NOD32 be compared with others and be placed in the NOD32 section!?

You give some idea for NOD32 which is based on some other AV and again the kick it elsewhere. Like they're afraid of comparisons

If someone says they should add more signatures coz thats they way to go you shouldn't say, hey you have heuristics. Thats a very bad excuse.
And people defedning this are even more stupid (no direct offense to anyone).

Whats wrong if users wishes to see more signatures added?
I stopped defending avast! long time ago for things that are obviously not perfect. If it misss the sample i say submit it to them so they0'll detect it next time. Every AV can miss something or detect something that others miss.
Defending things that aren't good in the first place won't help anything,in fact it will even get worse.

Why would they leave comparison threads in a forum meant only to provide technical support for people having problems with NOD32? Votes of confidence are one thing, but discussions of the qualities of different AVs are quite another. It's not like they lock the threads altogether. For that matter, I don't even usually notice these discussions until they're moved (for the same reason), and I'm sure I'm not alone on that. IMO, it would make Eset look unprofessional to leave discussions including competing products in the support forum. It's the same reason we don't see discussions of competing products in the Acronis or LnS forums, and I don't see everyone getting bent out of shape about that.

The NOD forum is supposed to be a NOD support forum and should only involve NOD support issues not debates and comparisons

Possibly teh NOD forum should be renamed to make it more clear to something like NOD antivirus support rather than nod antivirus forum

Bad excuses again  If i compare avast! with something else and i explain what is beter in that product and that i want to see similar thing in avast! they won't send me away with some bad excuse. They also don't move the thread to General section even if it's in Tech support section. They accept critics.
Playing "I'm a the pefect one" is dumb.

If people can praise all those Advanced Heuristics detections (which certanly don't belong in the TECH SUPPORT section) why shouldn't there be any critics, recommendations or comparisons?
Dumb if you ask me.

But Avast has a separate forum just for Avast as part of it's website NOT as part of a group of forums

Doesn't matter when you focus on this

Now this is really getting on my nerves from all those NOD32 fanboys and then i see such double minded posts from mods. You don't allow critics because they are not related to tech support, but praising AH is part of tech support?

Quite simply put, the NOD32 FORUM is for NOD32 ONLY, period. There is no censorship, it is for Nod32 and Nod32 only, whereas this forum is for Nod32 and everything else (or everything else and Nod32), and I know this is not difficult to understand. If you want to discuss and compare Nod32, do so to your hearts content in this forum.

    Enough said.

    Cheers

I don't belive it. No censorship? Maybe, but that crap about tech support only is the biggest BS ever written. Sorry, but why don't they get a General NOD32 section to talk about such stuff related SPECIFICALLY to NOD32 !?
When you throw thread to General AVs,it's already gone to ESET staff and you won't achieve anything. If it's a part of their forum, now thats another thing.

If you have threads that degrade to an AV comparison thread and other non-support type of threads going on in a support forum the signal to noise ratio tends to drowns out the folks that are trying to get help in resolving an actual support issue.

Ladies and Gentlemen, discussion on how this forum is run is not up for debate. It has been stated many many times in clear and plain English for all to understand how the Nod32 forum functions, and how any, all and Nod32 can be discussed and compared within this “Other Anti-virus Software” forum. I do not see an issue at all, it is not like we are telling you to go to another website.

As the original topic has been covered sufficiently and we are now completely off topic I will close this thread.

    Cheers

    Blackspear.
