Eset RA not working in Windows 2000

Hi everybody,
I'm having this annoying problem - in a Windows 2000 SP4 Domain Controller I can't get updates, always getting the "Failed, CANT_DOWNLOAD" message.
The complete error found in logs is:

Error: "Update failed, code: 4, aditional code 0x1204, aditional description CANT_DOWNLOAD"

I double, triple-checked the username and password fields - they work. I tried uninstalling from the server and installing on a client with Windows XP, it worked instantly with the same credentials provided (I did a copy&paste).
It seems it can't quite do the HTTP get it needs to do the transfer - a "nslookup" on u3.eset.com works fine, but a ping results in "unknown host u3.eset.com".

The question is, why did it take so long to me to figure it out? Am I getting old?!
