    Hi!

On a MS Windows Server 2003 SP2 32-bit, which has MS WSUS 3.0 SP2 installed, I installed ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server v. 4.5.12005.0.

ESET FS added automatic exclusions for the internal MS SQL database used by WSUS but not for the WSUS DB files (SUSDB.mdf and SUSDB_log.ldf) which I excluded from scanning manually.

I also enabled HTTP protocol filtering in ESET FS and after that noticed the following errors in the Application Event Log:

    Event Type: Error
Event Source: Windows Server Update Services
    Event Category: Synchronization
    Event ID: 364
    Description:
Content file download failed. Reason: The server does not support the necessary HTTP protocol. Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) requires that the server support the Range protocol header.
    Source File: ...
    Destination File: ...

It actually says that WSUS was not able to download files for some of the approved updates, also confirmed in WSUS console.

The issue was solved after exluding the following application in Computer protection > Antivirus and antispyware > Protocol filtering > Excluded applications:
    "C:\Program Files\Update Services\service\bin\wsusservice.exe"

I suggest adding WSUS to automatic exclusions, as explained above, in ESET FS.

    Hello,

I do not have a release date for it, yet, but the issue will be addressed in a forthcoming build of ESET File Security for Microsoft Windows Server.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky
