    I'm unable to create a boot CD with Version 9.0 of True Image. Temporarily installing T.I. on my wife's system, it works. Both are windows. Mine is XP pro with SP2, and hers is XP Pro with SP1. The one that does not work gives an "error burning bootable CD-R/CD-RW" error. I cannot find anything different bertween the two systems. I can burn some test files to a small image, but it will not burn it to either a CD or DVD burner.

    Since you can make the TI cd on your wife's system I wouldn't worry about it unless you have other problems burning other cds on yours. Sounds like it either needs cleaning or perhaps a new burner altogether.

    Hello Durango,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    Please be aware that the current version of Acronis True Image does not have a capability of creating Bootable Rescue Media on DVD. However, there are several unofficial methods described in this previous thread. The ability to create Bootable Rescue Media on DVD will certainly be implemented in the future versions\builds of a particular product, but exact time frame for this is not decided yet.

    Please make sure that you use the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

    To get access to updates you should create an account at:
    http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
    then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

    Please uninstall any previously installed build by following Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Acronis True Image, prior to installing build 2337.

    If the problem still persists with the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 then please try to use next tips in order to solve the problem:

    - Eject any disc from the burner prior to starting the application;

    - Proceed until the program asks for a disc and open the tray;

    - Insert a disc and then click the OK button to close the tray automatically as well.

    If that doesn't help then I would also recommend you to update third party CD writing software, if any, to the latest version available for free on its respective web site.

    Please also note that you should use a blank unformatted CD-R or CD-RW in order to create a bootable rescue disc.

    If nothing of the above helps then please also try the following workarounds:

    - Try to create Bootable Rescue CD in Windows Safe Mode;

    - Disable Windows XP's own CD recording feature (Open "My Computer", right click on you CD/DVD recorder and select "Properties", select the "Recording" tab and uncheck the "Enable CD recording on this drive" tickbox);

    - If using Roxio software, disable Drag-to-Disk before trying to create Bootable Rescue CD;

    If you still can not create Bootable Rescue CD using the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 then please submit a request for technical support containing the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears along with the information about your purchase of Acronis software (order number, e-mail, where did you purchase our product, etc.) and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

    Thank you.
