    Hello

I'm kind of new using the Acronis Disk Director Suite. Im interest in installing 2 OS (XP and MAC OS X) and after XP installation I use the OS Selector and it gives an error that I still don't figure out wat can be.

"Acronis OS Selector was unable to load Unknown Operating System operating system: the file system type of the operating system is not supported"

I have XP in ntfs and the MAC OS in fat32.

I have followed a tutorial and i just cant understand the problem.

    can u guys help me?

I'm installing it on my laptop (HP Pavillion dv9082ea with 2 sata HD 120Gb each)

Is XP currently the only OS installed?
If not, did you check that OSS would work okay with just XP?

When do you get the error message? When the computer boots to the OSS menu (or before) or after you select to boot into Windows XP?

What tutorial did you follow? (It may help to know the steps you took.)

Also, as far as I know, OSS does not support OS X so you might not get it to work for that.

Are the drives in a RAID configuration or as separate drives?

Do you know the mode the drives are running in (IDE, AHCI, etc.)?

Does the Safe Mode version of DD boot from the DD CD okay and see the drives properly? This is important because it uses the BIOS to access the drives just like OSS does.

I don't know if this is easy for you to check or not, but if the drive is clear of all partitions and you just create one large NTFS partition, then boot to the DD CD and install OSS, do you still get the same error message? In other words, do you get the error message with no OS installed?

When I need to format and reinstall XP I need to boot the XP CD with a usb floppy disk for the boot find the drives of the HD. And the drive is an "Intel 82801 GBM SATA AHCI Controler."

I've installed the XP from the start and then I installed the OSS. And when I boot it with the software it doesn't recognize the HDD. When I start without the OSS it starts normally.

If the option is in the BIOS, you could try setting it to IDE mode and seeing if that lets OSS work. However, you'll lose the AHCI features. Also, Windows may not boot properly when you switch modes if it has the AHCI drivers installed (you may need to reinstall XP or do a repair install). I would just change the mode and see if OSS will boot properly. If it does, you could proceed further if you want. If it doesn't, switch the mode back. You also may want to contact Acronis Support and see if they can provide a fix.

Another choice would be to use a different boot manager. The tutorial does not require DD/OSS, but just a partitioning program and a boot manager.
