Error: Failed to read data from disk

    Have you runn chkdsk /r on the drive? There may be bad sectors.

    No. Could you advise how to do that? OS is Win XP. Thanks.

    You need to open a Command Prompt and run in on the drive in question. In the example below it's the C: drive.

    You can also run the command from My Computer, right-click on the Drive and select Properties. Then select the Tools tab. Then click the Check Now... button. Check both the checkboxes.

    In either case, Windows will have to reboot to check the drive if it's the Windows partition.
