Emsisoft Emergency Kit 2.0 Beta was released. There is apparently no download link for the Emsisoft Emergency Kit 2.0 Beta. I found these instructions:

Emsisoft Emergency Kit 1.x: Tick "install beta updates" within the Updater Settings and you will get the latest v2 Beta.

    Changes include:

I just updated Emsisoft Emergency Kit on one of my PC's. I forgot to check the speed of the Quick Scan of Version 1.x. However, I could tell that the Quick Scan speed of Version 2.x is definitely faster than Version 1.x. Here are some screenshots of Version 2.x:

Finally, it has arrived. Full scan old version = 2.5 hours, new version = 40 minutes(first scan, so that's without caching advantage) :)

Sucks that you can't scan a network drive with 2.0 now. :doubt:

And could you do that before?
You can try sending a support ticket over Emsisoft to see what's going on. :D

EEK has always been my favorite backup or 2nd opinion scanner, the improved scan speed is a great improvement. I will be downloading this next time I'm looking for an on demand scan.

Yup 1.0 certainly did. It gives a popup now that the program has to be installed locally on the client to do a scan.

I think it's essentially a portable version of EAM.

I use it as a 2nd opinion scanner which doesn't need to be installed on my PC. I just keep it on a thumb drive and run it when neccessary. I don't like installing programs which will only be used occasionally. It is also handy to have when helping friends & relatives.

Scan time EMSI 1 was 2 hours, EMSI 2 is 1 hours for me, that is good but CPU & Ram used are hudge, is tooooooo heavy :thumbd:
I think is not running on a netbook with only 1Gb of ram and rubbish cpu

I've never seen something so heavy: 90% CPU 700MB ram  as you can see here

hmm version 2 beta is quite good actually.
quick scan with version 1 is 0:01:28
quick scan with version 2 is 0:00:37

deep scan with version 2 is 0:46:24

All the scan times are with eset real time protection active, opera with quite alot of tabs, foobar or youtube for music, online game and skype.

the scan time is very good considering some files are duplicated because of my backup on my second hard drive of music, documents installers etc.

    no false positives.

I did notice the cpu usage of emsisoft process using over 70% at times. I have an intel Q6600 quad core 2.4ghz processor.
